As visualized by director Nando Costa in our new promo, that’s exactly what happens for a young boy surfing Cartoon Network’s “Toonix” website. First the boy himself transforms into a colorful animated character, and then the real fun begins as he shrinks down to the scale of an action figure. His desktop becomes the animated embodiment of Toonix in the real world, as 3D characters run wild in a microuniverse of imagination; all speaking to the rich illustrated palette and vibrant social network of the Toonix site. With careful attention to each and every irreverent detail, the spot is a visual feast full of tiny moments that reward repeated viewing. In fact, if you watch it enough times, maybe you’ll even get your wish…

Still Life is an interactive gallery piece that takes traditional still life painting into the fourth dimension with a motion-sensitive frame on a rotating mount.

Technology

On the hardware side is a custom-framed television connected to a rotating mount from Ergomart. Attached to the back of the television is a spatial sensor from Phidgets, makers of fine USB sensors. On the software side is a simple C application to communicate with the sensor and feed the data to a Unity 3D scene. The scene itself consists of a camera tied to the sensor data with all lights and objects parented to it so they rotate in unison.

<img src="http://b.vimeocdn.com/ts/208/938/208938880_640.jpg"/ width="640">

In case you haven’t checked the market lately, gold is still hot. So for the new campaign for Hertz’s Gold Plus Rewards membership, we figured why not go all the way and make everything out of gold? That’s right, we’re talking cities, cars, flowers, and most importantly, Hertz’s new mascot Horatio. After we worked with DDB New York on a previous spot that introduced Horatio in a cameo, the agency decided to give him a starring role in “Gold Is Better.” This is particularly notable because the spot also marks Hertz’s first fully animated commercial in 20 years.

To expand on the character of Horatio, we went through extensive development to capture both his swagger and his charm. A charm that is further added to by the voiceover talent of the inimitable Owen Wilson. Creative Directors Kinda Akash and Brian Drucker created a friendly, clean look to the Hertz world that is bursting with life, while our 3D team devised an ownable style based on simple geometric shapes. The result is a vibe that’s pure sunshine. Will Horatio be back? Stay tuned… and stay gold.

A visual-effects challenge that we couldn’t refuse. Working with TBWA/Toronto for Pella, we created a multi-platform campaign centered on the protective power of Pella’s windows and entry doors. With two :30 TV spots, six web animations, and a print campaign, this was a truly integrated project for Superfad. In each case, we used real-world mechanics as a basis for beautiful photoreal transformations. “Snowflake & Sun” is the first of two spots directed by Justin Leibow, using elaborate production design to create two distinct seasons in the home of a young woman. Sophisticated 3D design and Flame compositing work in tandem with the live-action to fill out the narrative. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the view!

Action, sci-fi, documentary, mumblecore-indie-dramedy, you name it. But what we love even more is getting a chance to take those genres and mix them up. In a cinematic 30 seconds, our new spot for Netflix Instant takes us from the pulse-pounding heights of an action film to the sandy shores of true romance to the chilly climate of an Arctic documentary. Working with Goodby, Silverstein, and Partners, director Will Hyde developed scenes that play to the hyperbolized stylization of each genre, with a fluid edit that seamlessly transitions from one to the next. The reveal that all of these movies live on your TV or laptop via Netflix brings home the point that movies are more accessible - and more watchable - than ever.

These drawn representations react in different ways when traveling through the desolate landscapes, transforming into impossible musical instruments and altering elements in the environment along the way. The film’s structure is defined by World Gang’s music composition, which features classic instruments altered electronically to create the track. Working in a push and pull relationship, the film’s video and audio abstractions unite in an experience that is both otherworldly and rooted in tradition.
